The Lord Has Given Us the Authority to Educate

Hello everyone! My name is Shirley and I am from the ECA campus in Auckland. Originally from Wenzhou, China, and I joined ECA Auckland in December 2022.

Praise God, I got baptized on October 8, 2023!

I would consider myself a very fortunate person. Life has always been smooth sailing for me since a young age, to the point where my friends playfully nicknamed me “Koi¹”.

However, as my children grew, I faced many troubles in understanding how to educate them. I felt helpless when it came to dealing with rebellion, uncontrolled tempers, strained relationships with my children, and many other problems.

All these issues caused me so much anxiety and stress to the point where my health was affected, leading to a necessary operation.

One day, while discussing the challenges of parenting with my husband, Daniel, the topic of Christian faith arose.
In that moment, I had a sudden urge to seek God’s word for wisdom on motherhood. Because of this, I went to church for the first time, hoping to receive guidance from the Lord.

I am grateful that God has called me and led me to listen to His word consistently. He made me realize that
children are the most beautiful gifts that He has given us, reshaping my mentality. I also thank God for teaching me that educating children is an authority He has given to parents, alleviating my fears of inadequacy. I know that if we follow God’s will when educating our children, then they will be blessed.

I thank God for His word on our journey of educating our children, allowing us to make timely changes.

In less than a year, my child underwent significant positive changes, with many improvements in his academic performance and attitude. This strengthens my faith to continue follow the Heavenly Father’s will in teaching my child.

1. Koi: an internet slang term used to describe someone as lucky or fortunate.
