Faith is the unseen. Faith is complete trust.

My name is Alex, and I am a young man with a love for life, and left Malaysia to go to New Zealand on a working holiday¹ visa. I initially lived in the South Island of New Zealand for half a year, but in order to stay longer, I had to move to Auckland in the North Island and obtain a work visa². Once I was in Auckland, God led me to ECA Auckland. With the help of the pastors and people of the church, I found my current job through one of the brothers in the church. God was very gracious to me and allowed me to start my application for a work visa after working for only one week.

The process of starting the application was smooth. Whether it was completing a certificate of good conduct³, filling out information on the application, or obtaining employment documents from my company, all of this was done and submitted within a week.

All seemed to be going well, yet not quite so. Although all my documents were submitted successfully, there was one thing that was not within my control – my health. About five to six years ago in Malaysia, I was found to have a tumour in my gallbladder. The doctors assured me then that the tumour did not have to be removed, but unexpectedly, it was detected during my physical examination in New Zealand. At that point, I thought that there was no hope and the only thing I could do was wait on God’s arrangement.

Finally, with the company and prayers of Pastor Sean and Pastor Stella, I obtained my work visa a month later and experienced a miracle on the day it happened.

In general, applying for a work visa in New Zealand requires these three steps:
1. Submission of documents
2. The Department of Documents will check to see if the submitted documents are complete.
3. Lastly, the case officer will require at least 1 to 3 weeks to review the application before approval.
Eventually, my application was passed on to the case officer one day at 7am, and I began to pray with my pastors. Later that day at 3pm, I received news that my work visa has been approved.

God sharpened my faith through this process and made me stronger.

Faith is the unseen. Faith is complete trust.
Things that seem limited with man are limitless with God.

The Bible tells us:
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” (NIV Hebrews 11:1)

Therefore, I want to encourage you that matter what you hope to achieve, and even if you have not seen the results yet, as long as you believe, it will lead you to good results. This is because when we believe in God, we do not see Him with our own eyes, but we believe by faith. If you want to achieve something according to God’s will, God will give it to you according to His time and your true needs.

I give Jesus all the glory and thank my pastors and family from church. May God bless you all.
